Get The Best Movie Quality With Blu-Ray DVDs

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

I like blu-ray movies a lot. They offer really high quality picture quality. HD is the way of the future. After watching blu-ray I can’t even watch regular DVDs anymore. I saw Spiderman 2 on blu-ray the other and it couldn’t even compare to when I watch it on regular DVD a couple of years back. Not only the picture is improved, but so is the sound generated. I really can not say enough good things about these regular discs.

I have a high def television, and when I watch regular movies or even regular cable it seems like a waste. In realty it not even a good way to waste my day. I’d rather read a book then watch crapy TV (and that’s saying a lot). There are HD channels available, so that makes it better, but still I wish everything looked like blu-ray DVDs.

A lot of people have been put off blu-ray because they feel it’s too expensive. Yes it’s a little more money, but for the improved experience it is very worthwhile. They aren’t really overly costly. You can buy blu ray movies online if you look for them. In reality they don’t cost all that much. One thing they are though is worth every penny. Even if the cost was $75 each I’d still probably buy them. Quality is what I look for over price.

Considering how far tech has come in such a short time I can’t imagine where it will be in another 20 or even 40 years. I suppose thinking about that stuff to much is useless. I will just live in the present. That’s why I don’t know why more people don’t buy blu-ray players. Again yes they are a bit expensive, but again yes they are worth it. I don’t think I could cope without mine, not to sound insane.

The Story Of Dr. Who And Its Audiobooks

Friday, October 10th, 2008

If you live in one of the main English speaking countries chances are it will have been difficult for you to of not, at the very least, heard of the Science fiction serial DW! Now that Dr. Who is back on television since 2005 after it’s 15yr absence the show has gotten to be pretty popular once more, so mush so in fact that even the sci-fi channel has taken an interest in the serial.

Dr. Who all began in November 1963 when it’s 1st episode aired on TV taking the Doctor & his comrades back into the past where they helped some cavemen to use fire for the first time. Taking into account the brand new show Doctor Who is currently the longest running Science fiction show of all time! Star Trek is the second longest running Sci-Fi serial of all time having began in nineteen sixty thee with episodes in production up in to only a few years ago.

During the 70s the BBC expanded Doctor Who onto the audio median creating the 1st Doctor Who Audio. The first releases were for the most part soundtracks from the television shows with binding narration by the Drs. It wasn’t long before the BBC decided to take the audio releases to the next level by releasing audio book episodes solely for Audio Book release.

To add to this the BBC began creating radio episodes, again with past Drs who had played in the series, these episodes were also made accessible in Audio Book format. Another great use the BBC have found for audio with Dr. Who is the re-creation of old stories that had been lost. At the time of writing the BBC’s Audiobook collection currently consists of over fifty . There exist Audiobooks from the very first series all the way up to the most recent serial with David Tennent and even Sarah Jane and Torchwood Audio.

One of the cool things about Doctor Who Audio Books is that they give us the freedom to listen to our favorite episodes anywhere we please with the use of the modern mp3 player. Audiobooks help us to obtain more out of our increasingly busier days, as it is so easy for as to listen to them while doing other things like working out, house work, driving, & other activities that permit multitasking. Another reason why folks like DW audio is because in many cases the audio episodes are now read by the actors of the series. They are also a great choice for long car rides, especially with kids as there’s nothing like a good Dr. Who storie to keep them occupied.

With the Doctor Who New series going from strength to strength and everyday additional Audios being produced available both from the old and new serial & now from Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures as well, it looks like DW & Doctor Who Audio Books are here to stay for some time to come!

Satellite TV Offers More Than Cable

Saturday, October 4th, 2008

I’ve been wanting to get rid of BrightHouse cable TV service for a long time. The issue is they give you a good deal with their bundles that include telepone, hi speed internet, and television service. When customers need to disconnect one of these, you miss out on the savings of the package.

But the cable TV service just has to go, as the channel selection and quality is below average. There is so much talk today about HD, there isn’t much choice with my provider. So I started doing a little research on who else was providing service in my neck of the woods.

I am fortunate to be one of the individuals who have a few choices. Unlike a few people who can only choose from either the cable company or Dish television, I have a third option in this region. The phone company in this area has been enhancing their network. So I have another consideration with U-verse from AT&T.

That doesn’t of course mean I won’t have similar problems. It would place someone in the same boat as with the cable TV company, as the telephone guys want me to bundle their television service with high speed and voice service. If the deal is good, customers will be satisfied. Then again if the service is poor you are in the same situation that I’m in now with the cable operator.

The reviews I found on the internet are fairly good on telecom television service. Because it is new, there is always a learning curve with a service like this, and some customers write bad reviews. Some of those reviews are the quite amusing, simply for the reason people decide to write a bad review on their horrible experience and share it on the web. Unhappy customers rail on the company like it is some huge conspiracy to screw the customer, like the company does not want to make money!

Another option I’m looking into is of course satellite television. Because we have six television viewers in the home, we usually buy a premium cable television package. The satellite companies seem to be pretty even, as the Premier DirecTV package and the DISH Network America’s everything package are both right around $110 a month. Sure that’s pretty pricey for pay TV, but if you make the comparison with treating your family to dinner and a show, the entertainment value is comparable.
